Communication - Listening Skills

| Purpose: | To evaluate the importance of listening skills to communication success, to develop processes to improve effective listening, and identify listening tendencies
| | Duration: | 2-4 hours, dependent upon delivery method used
| | Overview: | Communication is vital to business success and group dynamics. Participants learn the import role that good listening plays in creating an environment for open, honest communication and effective business operations. The roles of the provider and receiver of information will be discussed and defined, as well as action steps for improving one's listening skills in one-on-one situations, in workgroup meetings, and in daily operations.
| | Audience: | Any organizational employee, organizational group, or project team
| | Delivery: | CSI Consultant Led, Train-the-Trainer, and Off-the-Shelf
| | Materials: | Participants will receive a workbook that includes process development pages and a course evaluation form
| | Key Outcomes: | A fully developed written business process for evaluating and improving communication within the workgroup through listening to include:
- Benefits of improved listening to self, team, and company
- Roles and responsibilities in effective communication- sender and receiver
- Listening areas for development
- Techniques for improving listening
- Techniques for encouraging others to listen
- Non-negotiable steps for good listening
- Action plans for improving listening in one-on-one situations, in workgroup meetings, and in daily operations
